Bring on the tears for this recipe! Delicious Soup! If you like French Onion soup or if you like Onions, You will like this soup. I have never had French Onion Soup before I made this for dinner tonight and Loved it! So Yummy! So if you are in the mood and want to try a hand at a new homemade soup put this one on your list!

FRENCH ONION SOUP
Ingredients:
3 TBS Butter
1 TBS all-purpose flour
2 TBS red wine
French Baguette (6 1-inch slices)
Swiss cheese slices
4 onions, thinly sliced
5 c Beef Broth
1 Bay leaf
Grated Gruyere Cheese (found at the deli section and I grated my own)

Directions:
In medium saucepan, melt butter. Stir in Onions. Cook over medium heat for 20-30 minutes stirring occasionally until golden brown. Stir in flour. Add broth, wine and bay leaf. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer 20 min. Remove from heat and discard bay leaf.

Preheat oven to 400 degree's. In six oven safe bowls ladle soup and place bread slice on top, sprinkle generously w/gruyere cheese. Top with Swiss slice. place on baking sheet and bake 10 minutes or until cheese is melted and golden.

* I didn't have the little oven safe bowls so i just cut up the whole loaf of the French Baguette and placed the slices on a cookie sheet and put the cheese on how it asked and baked for 10 min. and then put them in the soup after wards. I also tore the swiss slice into fours and just put a 1/4 on the slice since they are small slices. Enjoy!!
